Dinner 27: A Welcome Party

A couple of weekends ago, we hosted our 27th dinner in the front parking lot of the new Austin Architects office right next to Local Root. A dinner in a parking lot, you ask? Well, yes! And what a beautiful dinner it was. No details were spared when Jonathan Austin and his team renovated a house-turned-office for his new business address, right down to the lovely stone pavers that grace his front parking space. It was there that we set-up beautifully dressed tables, and had an incredible meal courtesy of Rene and Hi-Rise Bread Co, to the tune of Sunday evening traffic on Concord Avenue.

This was the first dinner for Didriks’ new visual merchandiser Alex, who did a superb job of dressing the table for the evening. The meal started, as it often does, with a cocktail hour of sorts, before guests were seated and treated to a divine four-course meal.

In this post, we’ll recap the cocktail hour and table setting for you, and then next week I’ll share the wonderful menu. Settle in and prepare to be blown away!

For the cocktail hour to kick off the evening, we enjoyed a few bottles of delicious champagne, and several trays of Rene’s  gougères – how very French of us! We served the champagne in Schott Zwiesel Classico Flutes, and kept the extra cold in a Simon Pearce Norwich Ice Bucket.

For some elegant lighting, we used a few Simon Pearce Woodbury Hurricanes, which you can see in the background above.

The gougères were served plated and passed on a series of Jars Ceramics Tourron Rectangular Trays in the Samoa color, which is a lovely deep green.

The table itself was a sight to behold. The table was dressed with Libeco Home Napoli Vintage Table Cloths in Cafenoir, and each setting was built upon a Chilewich Kono Rectangular Placemat in Iron.

For the dinnerware, we used a Heath Ceramics Coupe Dinner Plate in Onyx, and a Jars Ceramics Tourron Dessert Plate in Samoa. The dark colors added a dramatic flair to the tabletop, and contrasted wonderfully with the gold Libeco Home Vence Linen Napkins and the saturated red and pink hues of the flowers.

For the flatware, we used this contemporary David Mellor London Stainless Steel 5-Piece Setting.

Glassware hailed from the Simon Pearce Woodbury collection, which has a really unique look to it, with a rustic chic vibe. Here is the classic wine pour photo, with a lovely rose that we enjoyed with the first course.
