Flavors of Fall

0 Comments 15 November 2013

Today we have a fun event recap to share, written by our new store manager Kathy! She was lucky enough to attend the Boston Chef event Flavors of Fall earlier this week, and here’s what she had to say!

I love to eat. I am so satisfied by the way food feels to me. It’s an experience to try new flavor combinations and surround myself by people who look at food the way I do. So when I had the opportunity to attend Boston Chef’s Flavors of Fall Event at Regattabar this past week I jumped at it. Pumpkin? Carrot? Maple? Cranberry? I was so there.

I started the night with a cocktail from Noir and from there things just got better. From Harvest there was Roasted Chestnut Soup with Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Spiced Creme Fraiche.

Russell House Tavern embraced root vegetable season with an Heirloom Carrot and Pig’s Tail Risotto.

The Blue Room & Belly Wine bar were there to represent Kendall Square with their Duck Liver Mousse on crusty Fruity bread and cassoulet in a cup. Cassoulet is the best but just DOES NOT photograph well (so imagine that).

Just because it’s closing it’s doors in a month and a half Upstairs on the Square isn’t going to stop being awesome. They presented a phenomenal Kuri Squash Risotto with Mushrooms and Crispy Speck. Speck, YUM.

I finished out my little tasting of Cambridge’s best Fall dishes with Pumpkin Maple Creme Brulee from Sandrine’s Bistro and Pumpkin Whoopie Pies from Henrietta’s Table. Go to Sandrines for this Creme Brulee, while it’s still on the menu. I may have eaten two while I was there. Maybe.

Probably. Definitely did.

This was a great event to attend and left me in awe of the many versatile uses that fall presents. It also introduced me to Community Cooks, a great organization that helps vulnerable populations seeking assistance in the greater Boston area.
