Dinner 21: A Strawberry Summer

Today is an exciting day here on Dinner Series — we have a new Dinner Series event post to share! This is a particularly special Dinner Series, because it was the first one I ever got to take part in. I haven’t formally introduced myself, but my name is Taryn and I am the (new) voice behind Dinner Series. I started writing for this blog a couple of months ago, but this was my first Dinner Series so it seemed the appropriate time to introduce myself to you.

I was fortunate enough not only to attend this event, but to cook all of the food for it – and what a smashing success it was! I’ll recap the event and the recipes over a series of separate posts, but today I’ll be sharing an overview of the stunning setting and the delicious menu.

Al Fresco BBQ Buffet. Notice the cool and closed grill in the background. Yup. That's how we roll at Dinner Series. Well, sometimes.

Two Pomosas or Not Two Pomosas: The Brunch Comedy

When I think brunch, I think friends and family and gluttony. You wake up late, shuffle into the bathroom for a long, luxurious shower, then mosey over to a cafe or a diner, or if you’re in Vegas, to Lynn Hotel, where people you love are there waiting for you while sipping mimosas. There, an efficient waitress serves you pouched eggs, which you can’t seem to master in your own kitchen but the cook has, and a stack of pancakes that is promptly drowned in syrup, a plate of just bacon, and endless refills of said cocktail. All this at the crack of noon.

Al Fresco Brunch Table Setting: Hello Yellow!

When putting together the table setting for the al fresco brunch, Melissa wanted to keep the color scheme as bright, summery, and yellow as possible. The ocean blues and various greens added chromatic counterpoints to the predominant and cheerful yellows in the place setting and the center piece.
